It’s not too late to take advantage of the investment potential of Byron Bay and the NSW Northern Rivers region.  Here we explore some of the lesser known gems in the area.

Research from Propertyology has identified that Byron Bay is now Australia’s most expensive city by median house price. The town has seen the highest rate of growth of any Australian city, via, on average, a 10.1 per cent increase over the past 20 years.

DPN has identified that the flow-on effect from Byron Bay is expected to continue for years to come. Ballina and the greater Northern Rivers region present similar benefits for investors, without the celebrity prices.

Rapid growth

According to Residex, Ballina’s forecast capital growth is 6% p.a. over the next five years. Significant upgrades to medical services, transport, retail facilities and education have seen jobs growth soar. The Ballina Byron Gateway Airport is currently expanding and is only 3.3 kilometres from the Ballina CBD.

Location, location

Ballina is located just 27 kilometres south from Byron Bay. The town offers a stunning coastline much like its famous neighbour, with lakes and rainforests nearby for ample recreation opportunities.

Lifestyle benefits

Like Byron Bay, Ballina is free of high rises and over-development, with a community focus on healthy living. The town’s reputation for farm-to-table food, waterfront restaurants and cafes is on the rise.

These lifestyle benefits, along with the location, attract professionals running remote businesses, sea and tree changers, and international tourists.
