Investor lending is at a crossroads. Prompted by pressure from the regulator, banks are now making it tough for property investors to get finance. But other reputable lenders are offering cutting edge rates and are still prepared to lend significant amounts to investor (unlike the banks).
Many banks are now making interest rates 0.2-0.27 per cent higher for investors. But one lender is offering investors a variable rate of 4.14 per cent!
Similarly, while some banks are now only prepared to lend 80 per cent of the value of an investment property, some lenders who are not bound by the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority’s (APRA) guidelines are still able to lend up to 90 per cent of a property’s value.
