All businesses need at least a general insurance policy to protect themselves from common liabilities. Insurance premiums are based on the kind of business and company’s projected revenues.
A General Liability Insurance can:
- Protect business owners in case they are sued for certain claims.
- Cover the loss of business property, including furniture and equipment. If the company was burglarised, the business owner can make a claim to replace the stolen items.
- Cover the loss from litigation, including legal fees. It, however, does not cover the loss from litigation of professional services companies like legal firms and real estate brokerage firms, if they made an error that cost their clients some money. Publishers who get sued for copyright infringement, trademark infringement or defamation are not covered by a general policy as well.
